“It’s gonna be a bright, bright sunshiny day…”
Things seem to be looking up a bit the past week. Nathan’s been studying full time online for the last few weeks even though we didn’t know how we were going to be able to pay for it, and last week we finally got the word back from the government that our application for student aid was accepted! We don’t know exactly how much will be grants or loans but it looks like it’ll be enough to cover schooling and living expenses…and then last week when driving to Nathan’s old job I saw that UPS was hiring part time “pre-loaders” (530-830am). Nathan had applied in Feb at UPS but never got called, so he applied again. After his interview last week, we’re still waiting for the official phone call, but at the interview he was told he had the job. This is great because although UPS doesn’t pay great, they do offer substantial tuition assistance to students AND they are the number one employers in Louisville (where the school is)! So hopefully Nathan will be able to simply transfer to the L’ville office when we (eventually) move. The icing was Nathan FINALLY getting all of his schoolbooks in the mail – he’d been trying to learn Hebrew just from watching lectures, from a man with messy handwriting. Now he’s muttering all day long trying to catch up with the rest of the class – looks like he will be caught up by Saturday. Nathan’s taking Hebrew, Intro to the New Testament and Intro to Church History. He’s loving it. I love seeing him so “alive” and interested, instead of trying not to hate every day of a horrible job.
So things are looking up!
